Employer branding

What is employer branding?
Employer branding is a strategic approach to shaping the company’s image as an employer in the eyes of the company’s current employees, potential candidates, as well as the broadly understood business environment. The term employer branding refers to both communication activities and real practices within the organization, aimed at creating an attractive workplace and a positive image of the company on the labor market.
Types of employer branding
Two basic areas of activity are distinguished:
Employer branding (external employer branding)
Addressed to potential employees, candidates and business partners, focusing on creating the employer’s image with the help of the company’s website, presence in social media, participation in job fairs, promotional campaigns or recruitment marketing.
Employer branding (internal employer branding)
Focused on employee motivation, loyalty, internal communication, shaping a positive organizational culture and providing favorable working conditions (e.g. flexible working hours, additional benefits, development programs, integration trips, publishing company newsletters).
The importance of employer branding in an organization
What is employer branding in practice? It is not only marketing or recruitment campaigns, but the overall experience that the organization offers as an employer. Effective employer branding makes the company perceived as an attractive employer, which translates into more effective recruitment processes, retaining the best talents, as well as increasing employee satisfaction and engagement.
Employer branding activities should be consistent with the company’s mission, values, organizational culture and fit into the broader context of corporate social responsibility. Their effectiveness increases when they are integrated with human resource management activities, career development programs and employee value proposition (EVP), i.e. the promise of value that the organization makes to its employees.
Benefits and challenges of building an employer brand
A positive employer image allows you to attract the best employees, reduces recruitment costs, increases employee motivation and builds strong ties with the company. In the long run, it also affects the positive image of the brand and the company’s reputation in the eyes of customers, investors and the public.
The challenges of employer branding include, m.in: maintaining consistency of communication, difficulties in measuring the effects of actions, lack of involvement of leaders or discrepancy between the message and reality in the company. Without genuine care for an attractive work environment and company values, branding activities lose credibility.
Employer branding is a complex, multidimensional process that plays a key role in building an organization’s competitive advantage. Effective employer branding is not only about building the company’s image externally, but above all about taking care of the real experience and needs of current employees. Thanks to it, the company can develop a positive organizational culture, attract the best talent, strengthen the company’s positive image and achieve lasting success in the labor market.
